OUR STORY
It all began, while I was working at a café and the guest who had the party brought in cupcakes. These cupcakes tasted good, but $18 for 12 mini cupcakes, I thought that was crazy! My boss thought they were good, so I went home and tested out some recipes I found online. The next weekend was Mother’s Day so I brought in Red Velvet cupcakes I had made at home. My boss thought they were good, so she decided to sell them for that day and the following days. It took 3 days to sell all 36 cupcakes. After that I began making cupcakes for my mom to bring into work. Everybody went nuts for these cupcakes! Only a couple of days after that, one of my mom’s colleagues ordered 8 dozen mini cupcakes for her son’s wedding. That was my first order! During the summer I was making cupcakes for my doctor's, dentist's and orthodontist’s offices dropping them off to promote my new business. Sometimes by the time I walked out of the offices all the cupcakes were gone. People loved my cupcakes, I was asked to make cupcakes for birthday parties, weddings, holidays, family gatherings, anything that brought people together for happy times.
While I was happy the business was taking off I was trying to make different flavor combinations because I only had a couple of flavors when I started. Red Velvet, Chocolate Malt, Confetti, Peanut Butter Cup, Cookies ‘N’ Cream and Caramel Pecan Carrot Cake. During that summer I experimented with new flavors. While my family and I were going on our annual trip to the Outer Banks, that year our beach house was named Chocolate Sundae. So, I came up with new flavors while I was away and had some down time, Chocolate Sundae, Vanilla Sundae, Creamsicle, Key lime, Thin Mint and S'more were now added to my new menu. Many other flavors like French Toast and Cinnamon Maple both originated from a breakfast at my mom’s work. When I looked at my "top sellers" I saw a lot of chocolate cake I decided to make Chocoholic, it didn’t take long for this flavor to blow up. My Uncle Johnny from the south calls my mom "Plain Jane" because she doesn’t like any spices in her taco meat. This name stuck so I named the next cupcake Plain Jane. This is one of my favorites, vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream.

A woman who understood my passion for baking is no longer here, my Nonna, my mom’s mom, passed away in July 2016. It was very difficult for my family and I because she was very involved in our lives. Nonna loved pistachio cake, so I made a pistachio cupcake in her honor. This flavor will be available in summer of 2018. In the fall of 2017, I was involved in a small event at my local animal shelter. I made 54 dozen mini cupcakes for this event, I even made a few dozen doggie ones! I sold 46 dozen mini cupcakes that rainy cold day. During the three long nights leading up to my first event, to keep my mom and grandma’s energy up, I quickly made a special cupcake of their favorite cake, Strawberry Shortcake. A new cupcake flavor emerged that special night. This cupcake will be available also in the summer of 2018.
In the next year(s) I am looking forward to meeting more people whether it’s through street fairs, in person, or over the phone handling orders. I am hoping in a few years (after I finish college), to have my own store front. I would love to have a store front in NY on Long Island, Salvo, NC, Schaumburg, IL and Huntsville, AL. The reason I wish to have a store front in Illinois is my cousins (Ian, Kelly and Mikey) Aunt Sandy, Aunt Brenda and Uncle Andrew live in or around Schaumburg IL. My Aunt Martha, Aunt Kellie and Uncle Johnny live in Huntsville AL.I would like to have these and more store fronts maybe in OBX, NC because we love to go to OBX, NC every summer and we have such a good time.

I would like to start by thanking my Grandma. My Grandma, my Dad’s Mom, helps when I need help making cupcakes. She is always willing to help prep, make frosting, or even taste testing! I would also like to thank my mom and dad for always supporting me throughout whatever exciting idea I have. They are always there helping me, whether it’s looking for a tent, helping me create a menu, listening to my ideas, or driving me to pick up last-minute supplies, they always have my back. I would like to thank my two brothers for being the best brothers anyone could ever ask for. They are always there when I need help with making, promoting, transporting, and even honest taste testing. I would also like to thank my Poppy for delivering the orders when I can’t. Finally I would also like to thank all my customers for picking my product over a bakery or competing businesses. Thank you, I love you all.
